We Have a Winner!

Ok, after much deliberation the results are in!!!! I know everyone has been anxiously awaiting our decision (haha). The winning name is MALABRIGO sent in by Stacy Robertson! Stacy sent us a lovely email sharing with us her mutual love of knitting (and all things crafty) which led her to come up with the name of her favorite (and one of ours as well) yarn. I will be contacting you via email to find out what prize you have picked and we will be posting pictures of that soon. Thank you to all who participated. We had some very creative names and it was a very hard decision.

Love to all!

I Do Exist

Jennifer here. I will try and post when I can but my 6 month old has learned to "creep" and he's really fast so by the time I put him on the floor with a toy and get to the computer to type I've already lost him. Oh, there he is, under the entertainment center!

My name is Jennifer and I love to knit and sew and do all sorts of crafty things. I get great pleasure out of making things by hand. I have a wonderful husband a beautiful step daughter (17yrs old) and two little boys (2.5 yrs and 6 months old). I'm hoping that now that my hobbies will be potentially profitable I will get cheers from these wonderful people instead of the looks that secretly say "I think you have a yarn addiction".

I must now leave you because my 2 yr old is going to over dose on animal crackers if I don't intervene.

Cheers

Brain Overexposure

Margaret Here. It amazes me sometimes how what I think would be a great idea, turns out looking like crap. For example. We are having a family reunion the weekend of June 26th. It has been a year in the making. My Aunt Margaret has gone crazy. Each of my grandmother's sibling's families has a certain colored shirt they are suppose to wear. We are blue, after many, MANY changes in colors. Anyway, I thought I would break in my new screen printing machine and have a picture of my beloved grandmother on our shirts, there are only 6 of us, how awesome would we be?! I had my cousin Dan, take a picture of her and convert it for me, and I was thrilled. And then I put it on a shirt...and man...it was ugly. Bad. Horrible. Hubby said it was the creepiest thing he had seen. My Dad even called me to tell me how bad it was. Seriously, in my head, this shirt was awesome. We would have been the envy of the reunion. Why didn't my idea work?!!

And then I had a brilliant idea, of turning a Tinkerbell ribbon pattern, into a girl dressed up in Red, White and Blue for The 4th Of July. How bad could that be? Once again, it looked better in my head. Melissa and I sat there trying to figure out, what it was about it, that was so...off. I still don't like it. Not going to make those or sell them.

And then there is the Uncle Sam that I wanted to make. I did a FANTASTIC job on the Leprechaun I had made back in March. My sister stole the last one I had, and she won't give him back. So I thought, why not make Uncle Sam for the 4th?! I even found awesome little hats. And, don't you know...I don't like him. I think it is his coat. I don't know if I should just drop the idea and work on it for next year, or what.

This week, I have 8 shirts to make, on that screen printing machine that I just can't get going, and I am nervous about how they are going to turn out. So far, nothing is going my way, and that is really bothering me. Wish me luck.

Monkey's

So, I joined this group on Ravelry. There is a marathon in Tennessee every year, and it is Flying Monkey themed. Last year, I knitted up a monkey, with wings, and sent her off. She was so adorable. She was a Banana Fairy, her leotard was white and her tutu was yellow. She was stinkin adorable, I had a really hard time sending her off. All of the marathon winners, gets one of these monkey's with wings that we knit. And, for all my hard work, I get a great t-shirt out of it. Last year's shirt was Star Wars themed, and let me tell you, it was awesome! So awesome in fact, that I have to hid it from the Hubby. So, my goal this year, is to make more than 1, and try to figure out something cuter than what i did last year. It is a lot of fun, and I hear that all the winners thought they monkey's were a hoot.

Our First Day!

WELCOME! Margaret here! Today is our first day of business/blogging. Jennifer and I have been cut off from any yarn purchases from our husbands. Hence, we are Two Broke Moms. WE have decided that the only way to get yarn now, is to sell some of the things we make. I make dolls and other things and Jen knits baby things. Jennifer and I will both be writing here, so you should be overjoyed with our lives. I will start first. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am 36, and a mother of a 3 year old little boy, who we will call my Jedi Master. I knit and I sew. I knit a lot. My husband and i have been married for 9 years this June. Want to know what I want for my anniversary? Yarn. How sad am I? I made him a spectacular quilt. Just don't look too closely...there are a few mistakes. After I get it back from the quilter, my step-mom, I will post a picture of it.

I hope you enjoy our site. I hope that you will come here, and have a little giggle of the day, and that we will make it just a tad bit brighter. Did I mention we have NO idea what we are doing? Just thought you should know...
